This epic adventure truly challenged my faith. Though the trip was planned in January, record breaking snow pack and severe weather predictions threatened the well laid plans. Against the odds, we experienced near perfect hiking weather. Thunderstorms passed along the horizon yet never threatened our group. Rain showers came during the night with significant snow accumulations during our first night in the backcountry. A portion of the group trekked through treacherous conditions to reach the cables at Half Dome. Though we did not reach the top, we experienced Half Dome as few do: alone.
